Mayim Bialik is also known as The Big Bang Theory genius. She is a woman with a lot of talents. She is also an actress and a neuroscientist. The most admirable job that Mayim Bialik does is being a mother of two children. She has a unique and modern view of parenting.
Here are 8 parenting methods that Mayim Bialik uses for her children.
1 – Bialik’s children are homeschooled.
Mayim Bialik had decided to give her children homeschooling because she doesn’t agree with the standard school system. She has decided to teach her children using her own hands. Bialik states that she allows her boys to develop at their own pace and helps them pursue what they’re passionate about while focusing on imagination and play.
2. Bialks children were breastfed until late.
While a lot of mothers try to nurse their children for as little time as possible, she has let her boys decide when they want to stop. Her kids have grown up throwing a few tantrums and feeling closer to their mothers due to breastfeeding’s benefits.
3. She has trained her kids without using diapers.
Even though people don’t like changing diapers, many people wouldn’t choose to have their children go without diapers. However, Bialik doesn’t have any problems with dirty diapers as she has chosen not to use diapers. She has decided to go for diaperless potty training, which means that the babies will signal whenever they have to go. She also says that once you figure out what the signals are, all you have to do is position your baby over the potty and make a cue (a sound) to which they will respond to.
4. She doesn’t buy expensive Christmas presents.
Every year Bialik’s boys get presents during the holiday season. Even though she is fine with receiving gifts from their grandparents, she has chosen not to do the same. Instead of that, Bialik and her ex-husband have decided to give them one toy or give them socks and pajamas if they need them. The main reason behind this is that her kids have everything they need. She would rather donate to causes that help people in need than spend money on expensive gifts
5. She is all about positive discipline
Mayim values positive discipline and integrating a healthy communication style between her and her children. This means that when any problem arises, there is no yelling, no spanking, time-outs, or scolding. Instead of them, she tries to explain everything to her boys in a calm manner, using rational arguments that they can understand.
She also has a basic rule that you should treat your children the way you want to be treated because a healthy relationship is based on respect. This method doesn’t make your children fear you, and it also helps them develop self-discipline.
6. Bialik also encourages bed-sharing.
Another important thing that Bialik values are bed-sharing. Because parenting is all about being as close to your child as possible, she has chosen to share the bed with her boys. Bialik also claims that bed-sharing helps strengthen their relationship, prevents anxiety, and helps the child sleep longer and even better.
7. Her kids have access to technology.
Even though Bialik is a TV star, her children don’t really see her on TV because there are certain technology rules in her house. Bialik’s kids are not allowed to watch movies or TB because she doesn’t want their personalities and self-esteem to be influenced by the media or be peer pressured by it. The first video that her son has watched was of a homebirth, preparing him for his brother’s arrival. He even was present during his brother’s birth, cutting the cord.
8. Saying “please” and “thank you” are not encouraged.
Most children are taught from a very early age to say “please” and “thank you”. But Bialik has decided to teach them the opposite. She has guided her children not to use them at all. She also has started to her friends and family not to expect those kind words from her boys. She believes natural, genuine expressions of appreciation are more important than repeating those words.
