There are a lot of beauty standards accepted in society today. To maintain these standards, people who are interested in fashion should follow and maintain a number of rules. However despite their age, there are some models who inspire all others by their stereotypes.
Therefore we at Anomalous decided to be inspired by the story of Rosa Saito, a 71 year model who proves that age is just a number for fashion.
Rosa Saito’s modelling career started in her late life

Rosa Saito discovered her love for fashion when she was 68 years old. Her love for passion made her change her original name Sutsuku Saito into Rosa Saito for easy pronunciation.
She is 1.68 in height and had no knowledge about the fashion industry when she just started out. However her adventurous spirit helped her and even brought her to Sao Paulo Fashion Week.

Rosa has loved for beauty since she was a child

Rosa was born in Araçatuba, São Paulo. From a young age she discovered her talents in creative things like singing, drawing and writing. She always thought that she would connect her life to something beautiful.
“I always knew I was going to pursue something creative, something I could invent. Everything I do I take to that side,” she says.

“It is important to seek and find yourself. And my moment of peace is with them (plants). I go to my garden and talk to them,” she says.

At first she never thought of becoming a model. But after she got 3 invitations from professionals she decided to give it a shot.
“Twice it was by professionals from the Mega modelling agency and once by a photographer. I let the idea mature for a year, after all, it had costs too, it wasn’t something I was going to get into just like that, blindly. Until I decided to take the risk,” she recalls.

Rosa has now found something that she admirers

Even though Rosa finds beauty standards are oppressive she still has hope. “I feel that slowly we are changing. People are living longer, taking care of themselves more and companies really need to open up more in that sense and visualise these potential customers.” says Rosa.
