1. Dolly Parton and Carl Thomas Dean
Despite Dolly Parton’s image’s brilliance and vividness, her husband, Carl Thomas Dean, whom she married in 1966, prefers to stay out of the spotlight.
Such a large disparity in lifestyles may appear to cause miscommunication between the couple. Parton, on the other hand, believes that it is what makes them happy. “It’s true what they say about opposites attracting,” she said. “We’re diametrically opposed, but that’s part of the fun.” I never know what he’ll say or do next. Ron Howard, an American director, and actor met his future wife, Cheryl Alley, on their first date when they were both 16 years old. Since then, they’ve been together and married in 1975. “When we met, I felt really lucky,” Howard said. “It’s crazy — we were teenagers at the time; it shouldn’t have worked.” We married when we were young, which shouldn’t have worked either, but it has.”
4. Michael Caine and Shakira Caine
There’s only one explanation for why Michael Caine and his wife Shakira’s romance has lasted this long: it was love at first sight.
Michael thought Shakira was “the most beautiful [woman] he had ever seen” when he saw her in a commercial in 1971. He was instantly smitten by her and was ready to fly to wherever she was to meet her. It turned out that they both lived in London and that they had a mutual friend who introduced them. 5. Kirk Douglas and Anne Buydens
Kirk Douglas, who played Spartacus in the classic film, and his wife and producer, Anne Douglas, met on the set of the film Act of Love in 1953. Both of them were dating different people at the time, but the following year they reunited. Kirk joked in 2017 that Anne was “the most difficult woman I ever met” because she refused to date him despite the fact that he was a “big movie star.”
However, if he stopped taking himself so seriously, he might be able to win her over. Anne explained, “That’s what got me.” “It was demonstrating to me that he could do things that were not expected of him.” Kirk, on the other hand, admitted that he would be “lost” without her. 7. Alfred Hitchcock and Alma Reville
Alma Reville, the love of Alfred Hitchcock’s life and the producer of such classic films as Psycho and The Birds, was more than a wife to him. She was Hitchcock’s most important collaborator. They married in 1926 and were married for 53 years. Alma “consulted him on everything during the production, from rewriting scripts to casting to editing the film” during this time.
8. Bonnie Bartlett and William Daniels
William Daniels, who starred in the television series Boy Meets World, has been married to Bonnie Bartlett, a two-time Emmy Award winner, since 1951.
Daniels spoke out in 2017 about why their relationship has been so strong for more than half a century. “I think she’s a fantastic actress who’s won two Emmys,” he said. “And because I’m an actor, she can look at my work and say, ‘Bill, you know, I don’t think you’re doing what you want to do there,’ and she’s completely correct. So we help and respect each other, and I believe those are the ingredients for a successful relationship.”
9. Christopher Walken and Georgianne Walken
Christopher Walken, the Hollywood legend, has a successful career. He has appeared in over 100 films and television shows has won numerous awards, including an Academy Award for his role in The Deer Hunter, and continues to work today. But it’s not just his career that he should be proud of; it’s also his marriage.
Georgianne Walken, Walken’s wife, and he have been married since 1963. They don’t have children because they’d rather concentrate on their careers, each other, and personal growth. Their kitty, Bowtie, is the only thing they have in common.
10. Bob Newhart and Ginny Newhart
Bob Newhart, a comedian and TV show host, has had such a long career that he was honored with his first Emmy Award in 2013 when he was 84 years old. Ginnie, his wife, has been by his side throughout his life for nearly 60 years. “I don’t know if it’s our generation — divorce was just not in our vocabulary,” Ginnie said when asked why their marriage is so strong.
“Like everyone else, we had fights, and some of them were pretty good. But I could never be happy without him, and he could never be happy without me. I’d say, ‘I’m miserable,’ and he’d say, ‘I’m miserable.’ When we both calmed down, we’d say, ‘I’m miserable.’ “OK, let’s call it a day,” she said.
